This couple love to dance together, you can see how much they love one another by the way they touch, the way they move. We took them away to a quiet spot to get these special moments.

Sunset magical wedding light

Just after a wedding ceremony is the most magical time. It’s the start of a new life together. The couple’s family and friends share their first moments together. Hugs all round!

Dad’s the pastor and, er also the “Father of the Bride”!

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

A unique aspect of this wedding was that Christel’s dad is a pastor, and had been asked to perform the ceremony. So we had the fabulous moment when he traditionally walked the bride down the aisle as the father of the bride, and then nimbly jumped over to the other side to perform the ceremony. And then when asking “who gives this woman to be married”, answered his own question along with Christel’s mom, “we do!”

Cliff Top Bridal Gown Reveal…

Monday, January 12th, 2009

The old tradition of a groom not seeing his bride before the ceremony dates back to arranged marriages, when the bride’s parents did not want t0 risk the groom running off when he got a first look at the woman chosen for him. Times have changed! There are many advantages in doing group photos before the actually ceremony, mostly to do with the way that if these are out of the way, then after the ceremony the couple can be with their family and friends without the crazy rushing through getting everyone together before the reception starts. If a couple wish to shoot any group shots before hand, like these guys did, then we like to set up a “dress reveal” ceremony where the groom sees his bride for the first time in her dress.

From Minneapolis to Malibu

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Another Malibu wedding. Minneapolis based couple, Christel and Matthew, were looking for wedding photographers who had proven experience with the beautiful but challenging harsh west coast sunset light conditions found at Pepperdine University’s cliff top ceremony setting. They did a Google search and we popped up :) Here is the first set from their event. Truly showing how a small and intimate family wedding can still have the grandeur dignity and circumstance of a much larger and lavish affair. First we have the getting ready shots.
