Building the dance floor for the reception

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

We sneaked in a few shots of Bobbi and Todd with their adorable new son…and then went out to shoot the dads and the groomsmen building the dance floor. The basis for the show is that the happy couple’s family and friends all pitch in and create an unforgettable and fabulous extravaganza, but all without the couple knowing what is happening. Our job as photographers was to not only shoot the wedding as usual, but to also to photojournalistically document all the preparation. Much fun! We used old school black and white film cameras – quite a busy week…

We’re featured on the ‘Wedding Day – Michelle and Roy’ reality TV show on TNT this week!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

We were delighted to be chosen as the dream-team wedding photographers for a new Mark Burnett feel good reality show on TNT called ‘Wedding Day’. Our episode aired for the first time this week. The next set of posts to our blog will show some of the on set stills work we did for the TV company as well as the actual wedding we shot for this wonderful couple. Introducing Michelle and Roy! These first shots are where Michelle was shown her new fabulous gown for the first time. Next we shot portraits of both bride and groom for a custom movie poster to be featured at the reception and coverage of the moms creating some of the flower arrangements with super star LA florists Bobbi and Todd from BV Floral Concepts

The live band struck up a gentle blend of jazz and salsa and the party began…this day was a great example of how a backyard can be transformed into a magical wedding venue.

Backyard informality!

As the wedding started so early, by the time the couple and the photographers had returned from their photo jaunt it was still only just lunchtime! There was the cake, the toasts, the guest congratulating and more. And then the sun came out!

Sasha and Ben wanted to get married early, and by jove, 7am was indeed early! They were married by Sasha’s uncle in her mom’s backyard. Guests were family and close friends. The couple then went out for a jaunt (with the photographers in tow) to take some just married photos in the local Arboretum.

Renaissance Fayre Ye Olde Worlde Meets Ye New World!

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

For us as photographers, the best thing about shooting the most important day in a couple’s life together is that every event is completely different. We were booked by Sasha and Ben about 18 months ago, and did a fabulous engagement shoot at the time for them. They are big ‘Renaissance Fayre Folkes’, and their wedding day had a distinct ‘olde worlde meets new world’ feel to it! .

Let your hair down!

The day is almost done, now it’s time to relax and not worry about anything. The DJ at Kristin and Gabe’s wedding was a friend of theirs. To put it simply, he rocked the house down. We ran a slideshow in the screen of shots from earier in the day. Also, this images are shot in an unusual stylistic way using high ISO and small non intrusive strobes while we were out dancing with the guests.
